Managing Director
Jonathan is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and Engineering Manager with 14 years of experience across the UK and French nuclear sectors. He specialises in complex technical integration, safety case delivery, and regulatory strategy. Supporting clients such as EDF, Framatome, and Great British Nuclear, his work spans small modular reactor technology assessment, fuel export safety cases, and engineering replication strategies. At EDF Sizewell B, he has led safety case development for dry fuel storage and large capital projects, shaping early-stage strategy and stakeholder engagement.
His advisory roles include evaluating technical tenders for Great British Nuclear via Arup and contributing to SMR selection and organisational development. As Design Authority Lead at newcleo, he led system engineering for fuel route design and developed licensing documentation for GDA preparation. At Sizewell C’s MEH Alliance, he established the engineering delivery framework for a £4bn scope, integrating technical assurance with supplier collaboration. His work at ITER involved defining drainage networks for activated effluents and producing key design documentation.
Jonathan’s expertise in reactor licensing and safety case development extends to his role at Hitachi-GE, where he led ABWR GDA safety case efforts, producing ALARP assessments and coordinating ONR submissions. Earlier in his career, he oversaw critical engineering upgrades at EDF, delivering piping improvements and polar crane system installations while ensuring rigorous test and commissioning standards. His leadership across complex engineering initiatives demonstrates his ability to combine technical precision with strategic oversight.
New Reactor Licensing: Developed regulatory strategy for advanced lead-cooled fast reactor (LFR-200).
Programme & Engineering Leadership: Oversaw engineering definition and strategy for ~£4bn scope at Sizewell C.
Government Advisory Roles: Supported Arup and GBN in SMR technical assessments and procurement processes.
Systems Engineering & Integration: Led nuclear island fuel route systems design, PWR/BWR integration, and ALARP optioneering.
Likes: Suffolk in the summer, a smoky Rioja or any smoked food or drink for that matter, my technivorm moccamaster, being interrupted by the kids when on a particularly tedious Teams call.
Dislikes: Trying to stay fit and healthy when on the road and a good gastropub is calling, back and forth emails when a simple call would do, phone service on the UK rail network.
